Rehabilitation and Skill Development – Kila Maidan Campus

At our Head Office, Kila Maidan Campus, we focus on empowering visually impaired youth through structured rehabilitation and skill-development programs. Every year, nearly 50 young learners benefit from a wide range of services including vocational training, life skills education, orientation and mobility training, digital literacy, and support for higher education.

All facilities-including lodging, boarding, and training-are provided completely free of cost, with generous support from the Government of Madhya Pradesh, donors, corporate partners, and well-wishers.

The Kila Maidan Campus has a well-developed infrastructure comprising a hostel, mess, playground, and administrative office, along with a 1,000 sq. ft. computer laboratory equipped with 24 computers and two classrooms, each with a capacity of 25 students.

We offer the following certified training programs exclusively for visually impaired youth:

To date, more than 2,000 students have successfully completed training at our center and are now contributing meaningfully in government departments, private organizations, NGOs, and community initiatives. Many of our alumni actively work towards the empowerment of other persons with visual impairment, becoming role models within their communities.

Helen Keller Education Academy

The organization also operates the Helen Keller Education Academy at Prakash Nagar, Navlakha, Indore, dedicated to providing quality education for visually impaired students from Class I to Class XII.

The academy is spread over a 40,000 sq. ft. campus with well-developed infrastructure including a school building, hostel, mess, teachers' training block, playground, and garden. Enable India - Parivartan Center

The Kila Maidan Campus also houses the Enable India - Parivartan Center, which plays a vital role in strengthening digital skills, employment readiness, personal development, and problem-solving abilities among visually impaired individuals.

The center regularly conducts customized training programs, mentoring sessions, and solution-oriented learning activities that support long-term career growth and independent living for visually impaired youth.

Awareness and Inclusion Initiatives

In addition to training and rehabilitation, MPWAB actively conducts awareness and sensitization programs in schools, colleges, corporate offices, and community spaces. These initiatives aim to promote inclusion, change perceptions about visual impairment, and encourage equal opportunities for persons with visual disabilities.

Teacher Training in Special Education

MPWAB also conducts Teacher Training Programs in Special Education for Visual Impairment, affiliated with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi. The programs include:

These programs are recognized by Bhoj University, Bhopal, and benefit approximately 60 trainee teachers every year, contributing to the development of skilled and compassionate educators in the field of visual impairment.

Through education, rehabilitation, training, and awareness, MPWAB continues its commitment to building an inclusive society where persons with visual impairment can realize their full potential and participate equally in all aspects of life.
